Btech: On the Path of Self Discovery

Still dripping from being thrown into the deep end after leaving behind "lecturer guided" 3rd year and changing to trial and error self discovery through Btech , I decided to dry my dampened spirit by having a browse on the net. I came across this botanical inspired piece by Helen Shirk. I was immediately drawn to the plant like silhouettes interwoven to create  a multidimensional piece. However, it reminded me of a very geometric piece I created a few years back in second year. Now you're probably thinking, how on earth does this organic like botanical piece remind me of a past geometric piece? Well after thinking about it, I discovered it all boils down to arrangement and asymmetry. I learnt that I love pieces that are made up of multiple simple parts that are arranged or repeated in a random or asymmetrical pattern to create a bold piece with an almost organic arrangement. I also found that I am attracted simple pieces  that are worn asymmetrically or are made up of uneven parts. Then it makes sense to put the above pieces in a juxtaposition next to each other because they have these aspects in common.
