End of Year Holidays

Desert Rose Project.

Towards the end of the holidays I discovered a new party bake shop in Springfield Park (Party Themes Peter rd Springfield, Durban) and here I discovered many new fondant forming tools that I could use to make cake toppers and edible decorations. I recall my mother showing me a snippet in a magazine showing how to make a desert rose and when I discovered this new shop, I decided I was going to try making one of these succulent edible toppers.  After purchasing fondant, colourants, stencils and forming tools. I produced many desert roses in different shapes and sizes.

After making my edible succulents, I then baked a cake which I decorated in a simple white buttercream icing. I went on to create edible moss using desiccated coconut, crushed biscuits and green colouring mixture (I used bright emerald green that I added a splash of yellow and red to tone it into a more mossy-green colour). I then topped the cake with an arrangement of succulents.
