Phases of a Flower

Flower:

In this phase of a daisy flower, the petals have separated from the centre slightly reveal its centermost point which is the stamen. The flower is crisp and fresh, not fully open yet. I created the flower in metal to resemble a newly open flower with the petals still slightly raised. This flower represents the end of the third year phase of my life. In this phase, I am confident as a person and as a jeweller. I have grown and matured as a person and my jewellery skills have largely developed from my first and second years of study.

I have included the element of movement in the last three pieces so that there is a strong tactile element present when the flowers are picked up an touched by a viewer. The gentle feeling of the metal flower between my fingers allows me to think back to when I was a young girl and I used to pick flowers from the garden and play with their petals, bringing about a nostalgic feeling. I hope that the viewers of my piece will have a similar nostalgic experience when they engage with my pieces.
