Seedpods
In addition to flowers and plants, a great portion of my inspiration comes from Seedpods. I am fascinated by the way that the pods have a ‘hidden’ surprise encapsulated within them. I am also drawn to the forms and textures that make up seed pods. One of the largest sources of inspiration has been the Gooseberry pod, which is a lantern like, airy pod that covers a growing gooseberry. One morning while I went for a walk in the garden, I spotted a gooseberry plant growing amongst some potted plants so I picked a twig off of the plant and I hung it upside down to dry. Looking at the gooseberry plant with its delicate outer leaves and spider veins, protecting its precious treasure, soon to burst out into a bright orange berry, I was eager to recreate these pods in metal.

Another seedpod that has sparked up my creative interests is the coral tree’s tough bean-like ligneous pods that house tiny bright orange seeds, growing up I called them lucky beans. I am eager to recreate these pods in metal to be able to house gemstones and beads.
