Researching Jewellery Styles

Style Exploration:

Asymmetrical Arrangement of Simple Elements
Kelly Jean Conroy, Bone, Silk, Oxidized Copper
Kelly Jean Conroy's contemporary Pieces are made up of dried bones and carcasses of animals to symbolize the beauty in death. This particular piece stood out to me as I was attracted to the composition or arrangement that the little butterflies (forms found in nature) created. The same simple element (butterfly) is repeated in different sizes and arranged asymmetrically in groupings. I feel that the piece is balanced due to the individual butterflies placed on the opposite sides of the large groupings of butterflies. Contrast is created between the whiteness of the bones and the pitch black oxidized butterflies.
