Carolynn Desch
Carolynn Desch uses Pods, Leaves and petals as
metaphors to portray the “the persistent cycle of life and death” and the installations
of her exhibition, The Garden Project are focused on the issues of family and
childhood, loss, aging, and memory. Below
is one of the installations of her exhibition, The Garden Project where she has
placed leaves of different stages in a sewing needle box, these leaves are in sterling silver and they
are at different stages of their lifespan, fresh young leaves and older leaves
curling up and withering away. This item of jewellery serves as a metaphor for
women that are seen the masters of the mundane, “seemingly inconsequential” tasks
in life that are often taken for granted.
